Three of local note…

With all the top lists and favorite books of 2009, it is easy to loose sight of local books or small press titles with local interest.  Claude Alick and Janna Nickerson have successfully self published their books and Riverbend, a Helena publisher, has just released a book by Doris Pulis.

dance alick Claude Alick is known to many Missoulians as a bartender at The Golden Rose.  But that is just one of the places he collects and tells his stories.   DANCING WITH THE YUMAWALLI, his second book takes the reader on a journey to the Amazon and into the myths and legends of Grenada.  Colloquial traditions, superstitions on death and human growth, voodoo and the sinister yumawalli take the reader on a journey to remember.

For her snior project at Hellgate High School, Janna Nickerson publshed THE EYES OF WAR, next came FACES OF SORROW and this year TEARS OF DESTINY completes the Fifth Battle Trilogy.  The powers of good and evil are rotating towards each other and are ready for the final clash of magic and iron.  Secrets have fallen into place and with their knowledge, legends are coming to life.  Plans have been set and assassins have been given targets.  No one will be disappointed in this final book as the world teeters and rolls towards Good or Evil.

doris how Doris Pulis recently completed a dream, seeing her book in print (and proudly having her mother hold a copy in her hands).  In 1949 Doris and her family went camping in Canada and on their way home found a two-bedroom log cabin on a small lake in the Yaak River Valley of Montana.  HOW IT LOOKS GOING BACK recalls the six years her family  spent in the wilderness—hauling water, chopping wood, hunting and fishing, attending the one room school and learning about their quirky neighbors

Fact & Fiction Downtwon currently has signed copies of these three Montana titles.  As well as many other suggestions for your Holiday giving and receiving.  Start making your wish lists…
